Payment Processing: They schedule payments, match invoices to purchase orders, and make timely payments to vendors. Account Reconciliation: AP clerks reconcile accounts, ensuring accurate records and resolving discrepancies. Financial Record Keeping: They maintain accurate financial records, including vendor information, payment history, and expense reports. Reporting and Analysis: AP departments often generate reports on cash flow, outstanding payables, and other financial data. Process Improvement: AP professionals may also identify and implement improvements to payment processes, such as automation or streamlining workflows. Vendor Relationships: Building and maintaining strong relationships with vendors is also an important aspect of the AP role.
