Pattern Master

Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Pattern Master – Knits who specializes in knit garment pattern development, fit control, grading, and production support. The role requires strong understanding of stretch, recovery, GSM, shrinkage, and fabric behavior to ensure accurate fit and smooth bulk production in a cut-to-pack environment.

Key Responsibilities:Knit Pattern Development & Fit:

• Develop base patterns, proto patterns, and production patterns for knit garments.
• Interpret buyer tech packs, measurement charts, sketches, and comments accurately.
• Handle knit-specific fit challenges including stretch, drape, and recovery.
• Conduct and manage fit trials (proto, fit, size-set) and implement corrections.
• Ensure patterns meet buyer fit blocks and tolerances.

Fabric & Shrinkage Handling:

• Analyze fabric GSM, stretch %, shrinkage, and wash effects.
• Apply appropriate shrinkage and stretch allowances in patterns.
• Work closely with fabric and washing teams to ensure post-wash measurements.

Grading & Marker Coordination:

• Perform size grading considering knit stretch and fit balance.
• Coordinate with CAD/marker team to ensure optimized fabric consumption.
• Approve markers in line with fabric width, roll behavior, and relaxation needs.

Sampling & Pre-Production:

• Support proto, fit, size-set, and pre-production samples for knit styles.
• Communicate pattern changes clearly to sample tailors and CAD team.
• Ensure samples are delivered as per buyer timelines and approval standards.

Production Support:

• Provide technical assistance during bulk knit garment production.
• Resolve fit, measurement, and sewing issues on the shop floor.
• Ensure patterns are machine-friendly for overlock, flatlock, and coverstitch operations.
• Support line trials and first bulk production runs.

Quality & Buyer Compliance:

• Ensure patterns adhere to buyer quality standards and knit measurement tolerances.
• Maintain pattern version control and documentation.
• Support buyer meetings, fit calls, and audits as required.

Team Coordination & Development:

• Work closely with merchandising, sampling, CAD, cutting, sewing, and QA teams.
• Train and guide junior pattern makers in knit garment construction.
• Coordinate efficiently to minimize rework and delays.

Knit Product Knowledge (Mandatory):

• T-Shirts, Polo Shirts

• Leggings, Activewear
• Innerwear / Loungewear (if applicable)

Required Skills & Competencies:Technical Skills:

• Strong expertise in knit pattern making and fit analysis.
• In-depth knowledge of stretch & recovery, shrinkage control, and wash impact.
• Proficiency in CAD software (Gerber / Lectra / TukaTech / Optitex).
• Excellent understanding of knit sewing operations and machines.
• Knowledge of fabric relaxation and cutting procedures for knits.

• Ability to handle multiple styles under tight deadlines.
• Leadership skills and attention to detail.

Educational Qualification:

• Diploma / Degree in Fashion Technology / Garment Technology / Apparel Design
• Strong hands-on industry experience preferred over formal education alone

Industry Preference:

• Export-oriented Knit Garment Manufacturing Units
• Experience handling international buyers (EU / US / UK)

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹35,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
