Location: KIMS Valiyath Department: Patient Care / Counseling Languages : English and Malayalam Job Summary:The Patient Counselor will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing guidance, emotional support, and clarity on medical treatments, procedures, and healthcare options. The role requires excellent communication, empathy, and organizational skills to ensure patients feel comfortable, informed, and well-cared for throughout their healthcare journey. Key Responsibilities: Counsel patients and their families about medical procedures, treatment plans, and healthcare services. Provide emotional support and help patients cope with stress, anxiety, or fear related to illness or treatment. Guide patients on admission processes, documentation, and insurance/financial assistance (if applicable). Educate patients on pre- and post-treatment care, lifestyle adjustments, and preventive measures. Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and administrative staff to ensure smooth patient experience. Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to ethical and professional standards. Track and follow up with patients for treatment adherence, follow-up visits, and satisfaction feedback. Conduct awareness sessions, workshops, or one-on-one counseling for patients and families. Qualifications & Skills: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Nursing, or related healthcare field. Prior experience in patient counseling, healthcare, or hospital environment preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal & written). Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism. Knowledge of medical terminology and hospital procedures is an added advantage. Problem-solving and active listening skills.
