You will be joining RRD GO Creative as a Packaging Designer for the Creative Communications team in Chennai. Your main responsibilities will include: - Packaging Design & CAD Development: You will create 3D parametric CAD models and 2D technical drawings for various packaging formats using tools like Siemens NX, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD. Collaboration with teams will ensure that designs are functional, cost-effective, and meet product requirements. - Material & Structural Design: Your familiarity with packaging materials and manufacturing processes such as corrugated, folding cartons, rigid boxes, and molded fiber tray assembly will be crucial. You will understand the structure between finished 3D and 2D die lines. - Collaboration Communication: Working closely with internal and external design engineers, marketing teams, and clients, you will interpret and communicate packaging requirements. Your goal will be to ensure that designs align with brand vision and meet functional specifications. - Innovation: It will be important for you to stay updated on packaging trends, materials, and technologies to integrate the latest innovations into your designs. You will be tasked with troubleshooting and resolving design challenges creatively. Requirements for this role: - Core Skills: Proficiency in 3D CAD design using tools like Siemens NX, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Artios CAD. You should have a strong understanding of packaging design principles for folding cartons, rigid boxes, and corrugated packaging, with experience in packaging for retail and e-commerce. - Additional Knowledge: Experience with packaging optimization tools like Artios CAD, CAPE Pack, and simulation software such as SolidWorks Simulation is preferred. Manufacturing knowledge, including die-cutting and folding, will be beneficial. - Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary to clearly explain design concepts to cross-functional teams and external partners. - Experience: A Bachelor's degree in Packaging Design, Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is required. You should have 2-5 years of experience in packaging design, preferably in high-end retail or consumer electronics. Please note that fluency in English (spoken and written) is required for this role, and proficiency in Mandarin is considered a plus.
