Monitoring Oxygen Supply Regularly check oxygen pressure gauges , pipelines, and flow meters. Monitor oxygen levels in bulk storage tanks, cylinders, or concentrators . Maintain a 24/7 supply of oxygen in all patient care areas (ICU, wards, OT, etc.). 2. Handling Oxygen Cylinders Ensure timely replacement/refilling of empty cylinders. Maintain proper labeling and color coding (e.g., green for oxygen). Transport cylinders safely using trolleys or carts —avoid dragging or rolling. 3. Operating Central Oxygen Plant/System Operate and maintain the centralized oxygen supply system , if installed (like PSA plants). Respond to any alarm or pressure drop in the system promptly. 4. Maintenance & Safety Checks Perform routine checks for leaks , rust, or physical damage. Ensure oxygen delivery devices (like regulators, humidifiers) are clean and functioning. Comply with fire safety norms due to oxygen's high flammability risk. 5. Documentation & Reporting Keep records of: Cylinder usage and refills Daily consumption logs Any faults or repairs Inform the biomedical or maintenance team in case of technical issues. 6. Coordination & Communication Work closely with: Nursing staff and ward in-charges Biomedical engineers Vendors/suppliers for oxygen refills 7. Emergency Preparedness Respond quickly during oxygen-related emergencies (e.g., COVID-19 surges, ICU demands). Maintain a backup supply of oxygen at all times. Required Skills and Knowledge Basic understanding of gas systems and pressure mechanics . Knowledge of hospital safety protocols . Ability to work under stressful conditions .
