OPTOMETRIST

Eye exams Using specialized instruments, optometrists examine patients' eyes to detect vision problems, injuries, and other abnormalities.

Diagnosis Optometrists diagnose vision problems, such as near sightedness and farsightedness, and eye diseases, such as glaucoma.

Prescriptions Optometrists prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other visual aids.

Treatments Optometrists provide treatments such as vision therapy, low-vision rehabilitation, and minor surgical procedures.

Referrals Optometrists refer patients to other healthcare providers, such as ophthalmologists, for further treatment.

Counselling Optometrists counsel patients on eye and general health, including ocular hygiene, contact lens care, and preventive care.

Pre- and post-operative care Optometrists provide pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing eye surgery.

Research Optometrists may conduct research to promote advancement in the visual sciences.
