Position Title: Ophthalmologist

Location: Caribbean

Compensation: $8,000–$9,000 USD per month

Role Overview


A hospital is seeking a qualified and experienced Ophthalmologist with strong clinical and surgical expertise, particularly in cataract surgery and general ophthalmology. The successful candidate will support both outpatient and surgical services while contributing to the growth of the ophthalmology program.


Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive eye examinations and diagnose/manage a wide range of ocular conditions

• Conduct cataract surgeries and other routine ophthalmic surgical procedures

• Utilize diagnostic tools such as slit lamps, tonometers, BIOM, A-Scan, OCT, and visual field testing

• Participate in outpatient clinics, surgical scheduling, and post-operative care

• Offer screening and management for retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) and other pediatric conditions as needed

• Work closely with clinical and administrative teams to strengthen the ophthalmology service line

• Educate patients on diagnoses, treatment plans, and preventative eye care

Please note this is not a remote or hybrid position. The Selected Candidate will need to relocate.


Qualifications


Required:

·      Medical Degree (MD or equivalent) with specialization in Ophthalmology

·      Board Certification in Ophthalmology

·      Eligible for medical licensure in Antigua and Barbuda

·      Proficiency in cataract surgery and general ophthalmic procedures


Preferred:

·      Experience with pediatric ophthalmology and ROP screening

·      Familiarity with vitreoretinal procedures using BIOM

·      Understanding of retinal imaging and refraction tools

·      Established relationships with lens suppliers or vendors a plus
