As an Operation Theatre Technician, your role involves various responsibilities throughout the pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative phases of surgeries. **Pre-Operative Duties:** - Prepare the operation theatre before each surgery by arranging instruments, sterile drapes, equipment, and consumables. - Ensure availability and functionality of surgical instruments, anesthesia machines, suction apparatus, cautery, and other OT equipment. - Assist in shifting and positioning patients for surgery. - Maintain strict aseptic techniques and ensure sterilization of instruments. **Intra-Operative Duties:** - Assist the surgical team by passing instruments, sponges, sutures, and other supplies during surgery. - Operate OT equipment such as lights, suction, cautery, and laparoscopic instruments as directed. - Monitor and manage surgical instrument counts before, during, and after procedures. - Support anesthetists in monitoring patient vitals and preparing anesthesia equipment. **Post-Operative Duties:** - Assist in shifting patients safely to recovery rooms or ICUs. - Clean, disinfect, and restock the OT after procedures. - Dispose biomedical waste as per Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board and NABH guidelines. - Maintain records of procedures, instruments used, and consumables. **General Responsibilities:** - Maintain inventory of OT instruments, linen, consumables, and report shortages. - Ensure maintenance and safe handling of surgical instruments and machinery. - Comply with hospital infection control and patient safety protocols. - Participate in training programs, fire drills, and quality audits. **Qualifications & Experience:** - Diploma in Operation Theatre Technology (DOTT) / B.Sc. in Operation Theatre & Anaesthesia Technology (B.Sc. OTAT). - Registered with Tamil Nadu Paramedical Board (if applicable). - Minimum 35 years of experience in a reputed hospital OT. (Freshers can also be considered for junior roles). **Skills & Competencies:** - Knowledge of aseptic techniques and infection control. - Familiarity with surgical instruments and OT equipment. - Ability to work under pressure and in emergency situations. - Good communication and teamwork skills. - Attention to detail, discipline, and willingness to work in shifts.
