Operation & Maintenance Head

Job Summary:

The Roaster Mechanical In Charge is responsible for overseeing the mechanical maintenance, operation, and optimization of the roaster equipment used in zinc production. This role ensures the reliability and efficiency of the roasters through effective maintenance strategies, troubleshooting, and adherence to safety and environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Roaster Maintenance and Operation:

• Oversee the daily mechanical maintenance and operation of roaster equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
• Monitor and analyse roaster performance data to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary adjustments.

2. Troubleshooting and Repair:

• Minimize breakdown response time through effective planning..
• Coordinate and perform repairs to restore equipment functionality, ensuring minimal disruption to production.
• Maintain a log of all maintenance activities, repairs, and modifications performed on roaster equipment.

3. Work Management:

• Develop and execute PM/CBM schedules in line with OEM recommendations and plant criticality.
• Prepare detailed shutdown schedules, scope of work, and critical path activities
• Track KPIs: Work Order compliance, MTBF, MTTR, PM/CM ratio, backlog levels.

4. Safety and Compliance:

• Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations related to roaster operation and maintenance.
• Implement and enforce safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries.
• Ensure adherence to environmental regulations concerning emissions and waste management in the roasting process.

5. Team Leadership and Collaboration:

• Lead a team of maintenance technicians, providing guidance, training, and support as needed.
• Foster a collaborative working environment with other departments, such as process engineering, quality control, and environmental compliance.
• Communicate effectively with plant management and other stakeholders regarding maintenance activities, project progress, and equipment performance.

6. Continuous Improvement:

• Stay updated with the latest advancements in mechanical engineering and roaster technology.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and reliability of roaster equipment.
• Participate in training programs and professional development opportunities to maintain technical proficiency.

Cost Analysis and Reporting

• Conduct regular cost analysis of the roaster process, identifying key cost drivers, material usage, energy consumption, and associated expenses.
• Develop and maintain cost control and recovery reports, analysing trends and fluctuations to provide insights for cost reduction.
