Looking for position for one of the institutes of Symbiosis International University i.e. Symbiosis University Hospital & Research Centre, Lavale, Pune

Hospital is 900 beds NABH Accredited, Multi-super Specialty State of the art hospital. Associated with Symbiosis Medical College for Women

Position- Nurse Supervisor

Requirement of Qualification and experience :

  • GNM/B.Sc Nursing and (M.Sc Nursing preferred).
  • Registered with the Maharashtra Nursing Council.
  • Minimum 10-12 years of clinical nursing experience, including at least 2–3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of hospital operations, patient safety, and nursing protocols.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word for data entry, analysis, and report preparation.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to work in rotational shifts (morning, evening, night, weekends, and holidays).

To supervise and coordinate nursing activities in assigned wards or departments to ensure delivery of high-quality, safe, and patient-centered nursing care. The Nurse Supervisor will also be responsible for maintaining daily hospital data, updating reports, and supporting digital documentation processes. The position requires flexibility with rotational shifts to ensure round-the-clock nursing supervision.

  • Ensure nursing care is delivered according to hospital standards, nursing policy, protocols and best practice guidelines.
  • Monitor patient acuity, assess staffing needs and help allocate nursing staff accordingly.
  • Provide direct clinical nursing care when required, especially in critical or complex situations.
  • Serve as resource and liaison for nursing staff, assisting with patient assessment, care planning, implementation & evaluation.
  • Promote patient safety: monitor for incidents, adverse events, medication errors, infection control breaches; investigate, escalate and follow up as needed.
  • Ensure accurate, complete documentation of nursing care, patient records and reports.
  • Collaborate with physicians, allied health and ancillary staff to coordinate multidisciplinary patient care.
  • Supervise and mentor nurses, nursing assistants and support staff; monitor their performance, conduct feedback and identify training needs.
  • Participate in orientation of new nursing staff and ongoing competency development programs.
  • Assist in scheduling, shift allocation, ensuring adequate coverage and managing leave/roster demands.
  • Foster a positive work environment, encourage teamwork, handle staff concerns and promote professional behaviour.
  • Ensure adherence to hospital policies, regulatory standards (state nursing council, accreditation bodies), and nursing protocols.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) in nursing care (e.g., patient falls, pressure ulcers, infection rates, medication errors) and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain inventory of nursing supplies, ensure equipment readiness and proper usage.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, contribute to policy/procedure review, assist in audits (clinical, documentation, equipment, infection‐control).
  • Act as charge supervisor in absence of unit manager or during specific shifts (night/weekend) as required.
  • Clinical expertise with sound judgement under pressure.
  • Staff management: ability to supervise, develop, motivate teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills (with patients/families/staff).
  • Analytical mindset: data monitoring, quality improvement.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks, manage workload in dynamic environment.
  • Professionalism, integrity and commitment to the hospital’s values.
  • Hospital environment (ward/ICU/department) with exposure to clinical care situations and shift work (may include nights, weekends).
  • May require standing/walking for long periods, responding to emergencies, dealing with high‐stress situations.
  • Requires periodic training, meetings, audits and documentation work outside of direct care time.
  • Maintain daily hospital data, including patient census, admissions, discharges, transfers, and occupancy details.
  • Prepare and update daily, weekly, and monthly reports on nursing activities and patient care indicators.
  • Use Microsoft Excel and Word efficiently to compile, analyze, and present data and reports.
  • Send regular reports and updates to the concerned departmental heads and nursing management in a timely manner.
  • Maintain electronic and manual records accurately and ensure confidentiality of patient and staff information.
  • Participate in departmental audits, quality improvement initiatives, and hospital accreditation processes.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹40,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
