Npd Manager

Location :

Job Purpose:

To lead and manage the development and execution of new products and product enhancements in the glass processing segment, ensuring alignment with market trends, customer needs, production feasibility, and business goals.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Product Development:

• Lead end-to-end development of new glass products (e.g., tempered, laminated, insulated glass units, smart glass, etc.).
• Collaborate with sales, marketing, and design teams to identify product opportunities and specifications.
• Drive concept-to-commercialization process including design, prototyping, testing, and validation.

2. Project Management:

• Manage NPD project timelines, resources, and budgets.
• Ensure adherence to regulatory, quality, and safety standards during development.
• Regularly update leadership on project milestones, risks, and mitigation strategies.

3. Technical Leadership:

• Evaluate new glass processing technologies, materials, coatings, and machinery.
• Provide technical expertise to resolve challenges in design, feasibility, and production scale-up.
• Interface with equipment manufacturers and R&D vendors.

4. Cross-functional Collaboration:

• Work closely with Production, Quality, and Procurement to ensure seamless transition from design to production.
• Support plant trials, first-article inspections, and customer validations.

5. Customer & Market Orientation:

• Understand client requirements, architectural standards, and sustainability trends.
• Analyze competitor offerings and market benchmarks.

6. Documentation & Compliance:

• Maintain complete design documentation, test reports, and project files.
• Ensure compliance with standards such as ASTM, EN, BIS, or specific client norms.

Key Requirements:

Education:

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical / Production / Materials Engineering or equivalent.

Experience:

• 10–15 years of experience in product development or process engineering in the glass processing or allied industry (faade, building materials, automotive glass, etc.).
• Proven track record of successful product launches.

Technical Skills:

• Knowledge of glass properties, processing (tempering, lamination, edge working, screen printing, etc.).
• Proficiency in design tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks), and familiarity with ERP & PLM systems.
• Understanding of thermal, optical, and strength characteristics of processed glass.

Soft Skills:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Project management and leadership abilities.
• Effective communication and cross-functional coordination.

Preferred Certifications (optional):

• PMP / Six Sigma Green Belt
• Courses in Glass Standards / IGU / Safety Glazing Norms
