About the Role

We’re looking for a meticulous, experienced Editor to oversee and elevate the quality of content produced by our India-based writing team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of American news tone and structure, along with the ability to spot awkward or non-native phrasing. You will work closely with writers and the Content Manager to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency across all published stories.

Responsibilities

• Edit 10–12 daily articles for grammar, clarity, flow, and adherence to American journalistic standards.
• Rewrite awkward, unnatural, or non-native language so content reads fluently for a U.S. audience.
• Ensure all news articles are factually accurate, properly sourced, and meet journalistic integrity standards before publishing.
• Collaborate with writers to provide constructive, actionable feedback that improves their output over time.
• Ensure headlines, ledes, and formatting follow editorial guidelines and SEO best practices.
• Maintain consistency in tone, voice, and style across all content.
• Flag content that does not meet editorial standards and recommend revisions or rewrites as needed.
• Partner with the Content Manager to identify recurring quality issues and help develop standardized training materials for writers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Journalism, English, Communications, or a related field.
• 2+ years of editorial experience, ideally working with remote or international writers for a U.S.-based digital publication.
• Strong understanding of American news writing, AP Style, and a native U.S. tone of voice.
• Excellent editing, rewriting, and proofreading skills.
• Familiarity with content optimization tools and WordPress (CMS).
• Experience in a fast-paced, deadline-driven newsroom environment.
• Ability to give and receive feedback professionally and with clarity.
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail and editorial judgment.
