NDT Technician

Global Metallurgical Services is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented NDT technician to join our team as a NDT technician for carrying out thickness measurement of ships hull and ultrasonic flaw detection of ships hull weld joints mainly. This role involves hands-on work in marine environments, performing on-site inspections, thickness gauging and non-destructive testing (NDT) specially in Gujrat , Jamnagar, Sikka, Kandla, Mundra, Mandvi, Bhavnagar etc and any other ports in India as may be required time to time to measure vessel hull plating diminution over a period of time . The role also includes preparing detailed reports based on inspection findings.

Key Responsibilities:

• On-Site Inspections and measurement:
• Conduct thickness gauging of ship structures and components using ultrasonic testing devices.
• Perform various NDT methods to identify material defects or inconsistencies.
• Collaborate with team members to execute inspections efficiently in diverse marine environments.
• Report Preparation:
• Compile accurate data from inspections and testing.
• Prepare detailed inspection reports with measurements, findings, and recommendations.
• Ensure all reports are compliant with industry standards , client requirements and the requirement of classification societies .
• Equipment Handling:
• Operate and maintain testing equipment.
• Ensure calibration and functionality of tools before deployment.
• Safety Compliance:
• Adhere to all safety protocols during on-site operations.
• Ensure that inspection activities comply with company and regulatory safety standards.

Qualifications & Skills:

• 12th Pass
• Diploma /ITI in mechanical/ marine or a related field will also be considered.
• Preferably having NDT level II course in UT/DP/MPI
• Basic knowledge of NDT techniques and tools ( Additional training for Tm measurement on ship will be provided).
• Basic knowledge for preparing reports in computer in MS office
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to travel and work in challenging environments.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD for creating or interpreting technical drawings and reports is a plus.
