Job Title: MERN Stack Architect Department: Software Engineering / Product Development Reports To: Head of Engineering / CTO Location: Bangalore Role Summary The MERN Stack Architect is a seasoned full-stack expert responsible for designing, developing, and overseeing scalable, high-performance applications using modern JavaScript technologies. This role spans front-end, back-end, and infrastructure architecture, focusing on seamless integration, maintainability, and performance across all layers. The architect will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure technical excellence and alignment with business goals. Key Responsibilities Architectural Design Design end-to-end software architecture across the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express, React, Node.js). Define architectural standards and best practices. Technical Leadership Lead development teams and guide implementation with a hands-on approach. Conduct design reviews and ensure adherence to architecture principles. Scalable System Design Design distributed, secure, and high-availability systems to meet business needs. DevOps & CI/CD Implement CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks in alignment with DevOps practices. Collaborate with DevOps engineers on containerization and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). Database Management Design schemas and optimize queries for both relational (MySQL, Postgres, MS SQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB) databases. Cloud Integration Architect solutions leveraging AWS, Azure, or GCP services for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency. Code Quality & Governance Enforce best coding practices and standards through code reviews, documentation, and mentoring. Stakeholder Collaboration Work with product managers, UX teams, and QA engineers to deliver cohesive, business-aligned solutions. Required Qualifications & Skills 12+ years of software development experience, with 5+ years in an architectural role. Strong expertise in: JavaScript (ES6+), Node.js, React.js Express.js, RESTful APIs Docker and containerized deployment Experience designing and building: Scalable, distributed, and high-performance web systems Microservices and serverless architectures Solid experience with both relational and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MS SQL). Strong understanding of CI/CD tools and DevOps processes. Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP). Ability to analyze trade-offs in architectural decisions and document them clearly.
