Job Description

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced, dynamic, and visionary Medical Director to provide overall leadership for the medical and clinical functions of our hospital. This pivotal role is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of Ayurvedic medical care, patient safety, and clinical excellence. The Medical Director will oversee all medical operations, lead the team of Ayurvedic physicians and therapists, and drive the strategic growth of our clinical services. The ideal candidate will be a respected Ayurvedic practitioner with proven administrative and leadership capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

A. Medical Administration & Strategic Leadership:

  • Clinical Governance:

    Develop, implement, and monitor clinical protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and treatment pathways in line with authentic Ayurvedic principles and contemporary healthcare standards.
  • Quality & Patient Safety:

    Champion a culture of continuous quality improvement. Oversee patient safety initiatives, infection control protocols, and risk management. Lead the investigation and resolution of any clinical incidents or patient grievances.
  • Regulatory Compliance:

    Ensure the hospital complies with all relevant national and local regulations, including AYUSH/CCIM guidelines, and is prepared for any accreditation processes.
  • Strategic Planning:

    Collaborate with the Hospital Administration and Management to develop and execute the hospital's strategic vision, annual business plans, and budgets for the medical department.
  • Departmental Oversight:

    Manage the efficient functioning of all clinical departments, including OPD, IPD, Panchakarma, Pharmacy (Bhaishajya Kalpana), Dietetics (Pathya), and Diagnostic services.

B. Clinical Leadership & Excellence:

  • Clinical Supervision:

    Provide professional guidance and supervision to all Vaidyas (Ayurvedic Physicians), Therapists, and nursing staff. Conduct regular case review meetings and clinical audits.
  • Complex Case Management:

    Act as the final authority for reviewing and advising on complex or critical patient cases. Ensure a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
  • Treatment Standards:

    Ensure all Panchakarma and other therapeutic procedures are performed with the highest level of authenticity, precision, and safety.
  • Medical Research:

    Encourage and facilitate clinical research, documentation of case studies, and publication of outcomes to contribute to the evidence base of Ayurveda.

C. Team Management & Development:

  • Recruitment & Retention:

    Participate in the recruitment, selection, and onboarding of medical staff.
  • Performance Management:

    Conduct regular performance appraisals, provide constructive feedback, and mentor medical staff for professional growth.
  • Training & Education:

    Organize and lead continuous medical education (CME) programs, workshops, and training sessions to keep the medical team updated on the latest advancements in Ayurveda and integrative medicine.

D. Other Key Duties:

  • Stakeholder Engagement:

    Serve as the key medical representative for the hospital with patients, their families, the community, and referring physicians from other systems of medicine.
  • Inventory & Pharmacy:

    Oversee the quality control of raw herbs and finished medicines in the pharmacy, ensuring they meet pharmacopeial standards.
  • Inter-departmental Coordination:

    Work closely with the Heads of Administration, HR, Finance, and Marketing to ensure seamless hospital operations and effective promotion of hospital services.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Essential:

  • A Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) from a recognized university. A post-graduate degree (MD/MS in Ayurveda) is highly preferred.
  • A valid registration with the respective State/Central Council of Indian Medicine.
  • Minimum of

    10-12 years

    of clinical experience, with at least

    5 years

    in a significant leadership or administrative role (e.g., Chief Medical Officer, HOD, Senior Medical Officer) within a reputable Ayurveda hospital.
  • Deep and profound knowledge of Ayurvedic classics (Brihattrayi), principles, and practices.
  • Proven experience in hospital administration, quality assurance, and clinical management.
  • Desirable:

  • Additional qualifications in Hospital Administration or Management.
  • Experience in integrated healthcare settings.
  • A proven track record in clinical research and publications.

The Medical Director will report directly to the CEO/Director
