Experience:

• 5 - 6 years of relevant work experience
• At least 4 years in product design and development
• Minimum 3 years of experience in the automotive industry

Education:

• Bachelor in Tech/ Master in Tech, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automobile,

Industrial, Production Engineering or equivalent

1. Duties and Responsibilities

• Customer Interface:
• Serve as the primary point of contact between customers and the R&D team. Facilitate clear

communication to ensure customer requirements are accurately captured and documented.

• Requirement Analysis:
• Analyse and translate customer requirements into system specifications, identifying key

technical challenges and potential risks.

• Technical Collaboration:
• Engage in technical discussions with customers and multidisciplinary teams (Mechanical,

Electrical) to develop optimized hardware/mechanical architectures.

• Acquisition Support:
• Actively participate in acquisition activities such as RFI, RFQ, and PoC, offering insights and

proposing solutions based on customer expectations.

• Design Review:
• Conduct and participate in design reviews with customers, ensuring alignment on technical

aspects with support from the global engineering team.

• Documentation & Presentations:
• Ensure the creation and maintenance of comprehensive technical documentation. Prepare

and deliver product presentations as needed.

• Issue Resolution:
• Address and resolve customer concerns and product issues throughout the product lifecycle,

applying lessons learned for continuous improvement.

• Project Management:
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they meet quality, cost, and schedule

objectives.

Value Engineering:

• Collaborate with system and software architects to review and innovate hardware or

mechanical architecture concepts for value engineering.

Team Collaboration:

• Work closely with Engineers from Singapore and China. Work with purchasing teams to

localize critical components, such as housings and PCBs, for product development.

Skills & Requirements

• Technical Proficiency:
• Comprehensive knowledge of automotive mechanical engineering principles, particularly in

the design and development of plastic components.

• Experience required in product design and development for automotive components,

including instrument clusters, infotainment systems, driver displays, climate control units,

USB chargers, wireless chargers, and cockpit domain controllers.

• Expert in interpreting 2D drawings and applying GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and

Tolerancing) principles, with the ability to convert these into 3D models to ensure precision

in fit and finish.

• Proficient in thermal and mechanical simulations essential for validating and optimizing

designs.

• Strong expertise in validation and verification processes specific to automotive products.
• Hands-on experience with plastic manufacturing methods and material selection for

automotive applications.

• Proficient in DFMEA and DRBFM methodologies for early identification of design risks and

failures.

• Expertise in using CAD tools such as UG and CATIA V5/V6 within OEM environments.
• Skilled in tolerance stack-up analysis to assess the cumulative impact of part tolerances on

assembly quality and performance.

• Experience in managing mechanical requirements at both customer and system levels.
• Capable of performing mechanical verification tests to ensure product compliance and

requirement fulfillment.

• Communication & Presentation:
• Excellent technical writing skills to create clear and concise documentation.
• Strong communication and presentation abilities to effectively convey complex technical

information to customers and internal teams.

• Project Life Cycle Expertise:
• Solid understanding of the Automotive Product Life Cycle (PLC) and associated project

management methodologies.

• Travel Requirements:
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (10% -20%) as needed.
