Job Description

  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot marine navigation and communication equipment.
  • Perform regular maintenance and repair works on navigation and communication systems.
  • Conduct inspections and testing of equipment to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to customers regarding system operation and functionality.
  • Prepare and submit detailed service reports and documentation.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in marine navigation and communication technology.
  • Communicate with customers and all stakeholders for smooth completion of jobs.
  • Understand and follow safety and quality procedures without fail
  • Serve as IT person-in-charge for the office.
  • Assist in developing the radio survey and calibration business, i.e. to get local business and grow customer base outside of ESM
  • Assist in getting class and/or maker approvals as required
  • Ensure prompt communication with customers and suppliers
  • Process sales enquiries, quotations, orders and invoices using Archangel software
  • Plan and perform radio survey and calibration jobs independently and ensure customer satisfaction
  • Plan the purchases efficiently and monitor the spares and consumables required for the jobs.
  • Train and develop AME Engineers for the Gyro and Radar and other bridge equipment repairs.
  • Plan and monitor the deployment of AME Engineers to do the gas meter and UTI tape calibrations.
  • Perform other tasks as may be assigned by the Management

Job Responsibilities as GMDSS Radio Inspector

  • Perform accurate radio survey on board the vessel as per IMO Regulation for all GMDSS radio equipment
  • Provide advice on GMDSS equipments for safety navigation and conform to IMO, SOLAS and non-SOLAS rules when applicable
  • Prepare survey report or spectral analysis or site scan when applicable
  • Timely renewal of class accreditations or certifications, and get new approval for survey when required

Job Requirements:

  • Completed an Electronics & Electrical engineering degree


  • Possess a valid GOC or General Operators Certificate


  • Minimum 3 years of experience as Radio Surveyor on board the vessel


  • At least 5 years experience in servicing and troubleshooting marine navigation and communication systems.


  • Knowledgeable on all IMO regulations regarding Radio Survey requirements.


  • Strong knowledge of various marine navigation systems, such as GPS, radar, AIS, and ECDIS


  • Must be physically fit with excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.


  • Good communication and organizational skills.


  • Able to plan and work independently and in a team.


  • Willing to travel and work on board ships and other sites as required
