Description
The Design Head will lead the design team for Solar Power projects, ensuring innovative, cost-effective and high-performance solar solutions. This role involves overseeing the entire design lifecycle from concept to execution. While ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety regulations and client requirements. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Solar PV system design, strong leadership skills and a passion for renewable energy. Key Responsibilities: 1. Design & Engineering Leadership: Lead the design and development of solar PV systems (rooftop, ground-mounted, floating, hybrid, etc.). Review and approve technical drawings, layouts, SLDs (Single Line Diagrams), and BOM (Bill of Materials). Ensure designs comply with national/international standards (IEC, NEC, IEEE, etc.). Optimize system performance, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. 2. Project Management & Co-ordination: Collaborate with cross-functional teams (EPC, procurement, construction, O&M) for seamless project execution. Oversee feasibility studies, site assessments, shadow analysis and solar studies to ensure optimal site planning, daylight access and compliance with local building regulations and environmental guidelines. Manage design timelines, budgets, and resource allocation. 3. Technology & Innovation: Stay updated on emerging solar technologies (bifacial modules, trackers, BESS integration). Drive R&D initiatives to improve system efficiency and reduce LCOE (Levelized Cost of Energy). Evaluate new software tools (PVsyst, AutoCAD, Helioscope, ETAP). 4. Team Management: Mentor and develop a high-performing design engineering team. Foster a culture of innovation, quality, and continuous improvement. 5. Compliance & Quality Assurance: Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and grid compliance norms. Conduct design reviews and risk assessments. Liaise with external stakeholders (utilities, clients, consultants). Education: Bachelors/Masters in Electrical/Mechanical/Renewable Energy Engineering. Experience: 10+ years in solar PV design, with 5+ years in leadership roles. Technical Skills: Expertise in PV system design, earthing, cable sizing, inverter selection. Proficiency in AutoCAD, PVsyst, ETAP, SKETCHUP, or similar tools. Knowledge of structural load calculations and mounting structures. Soft Skills: Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication abilities. Preferred Certifications: NABCEP PV Design Specialist. PMP (Project Management Professional). Certified Solar PV Designer. Familiarity with BIM tools and digital twin modelling. Location : Perungudi, Chennai
