Job Purpose:

Head of Section - Permanent Way (P-Way) & Civil is responsible for overseeing the design, construction, maintenance, and repair of the railway track infrastructure and associated civil engineering works within the port. This role ensures the safety, reliability, and efficiency of the rail infrastructure, contributing to the overall operational success of the port.

Responsibilities

Strategic Planning:

Formulate and execute strategic plans for the maintenance of railway tracks and civil infrastructure, providing direction and performance management to the maintenance team.

Budget Control

Ensure the efficient utilization of resources, including manpower and machinery, to complete maintenance tasks within the allocated budget.

Railway Infrastructure Maintenance

Oversee the maintenance of points and crossings (P&C), long welded rails (LWR), and steel bridges, addressing the unique requirements of each structure.

Technology Proficiency

Demonstrate a fundamental understanding of SAP/ERP systems to streamline maintenance operations and data management.

Preventive Maintenance Planning

Coordinate site-specific maintenance with tailored plans executed by in-house staff, manage daily P. Way activities including preventive tasks, and ensure the upkeep and availability of tools, plants, and machinery for operational readiness.

Annual Maintenance Scheduling

Coordinate the planning and execution of comprehensive annual maintenance programs.

Resource Optimization

Maximize the effective use of available human and mechanical resources to achieve maintenance objectives.

Vendor Management

Oversee the selection and management of vendors, guiding the execution of maintenance works from start to finish.

Safety And Compliance

Enforce strict adherence to safety norms among employees and contractors, promoting a culture of safety.

Digital Mindset

Keep up with digital and AI advancements to enhance business and maintain competitiveness.

Qualifications

Education Qualification:

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.

Work Expperience

8-10 years of experience in railway track maintenance and civil engineering, with at least 5+ years experience in Railway P-Way & Other building construction & maintenance.
