Description
The Network Services Manager is a leader responsible for guiding a team of network engineers through both operational support duties and strategic project initiatives. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on technical expert able to lead by example, provide architectural direction, and ensure a reliable, secure, and scalable network infrastructure.
This role requires a dynamic individual who can switch seamlessly between managing people, resolving escalated incidents, and engaging in high-level network planning and design.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership People Management
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of network engineers focused on daily operations, incident response, and infrastructure projects.
- Oversee task assignments, skill development, performance reviews, and career growth plans for team members.
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and service-oriented team culture aligned with business goals.
- Establish and track KPIs for team performance and service delivery.
Technical Oversight Subject Matter Expertise
- Act as the technical lead and escalation point for complex network incidents, root cause analysis, and service disruptions.
- Guide the team in implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting enterprise LAN, WAN, WLAN, and cloud networking.
- Lead efforts in designing scalable, secure, and resilient network architectures for on-prem, hybrid, and cloud environments.
- Participate in vendor assessments and selection of tools, appliances, and technologies.
Project Operational Execution
- Plan and execute network infrastructure projects including upgrades, migrations, and new deployments.
- Coordinate across cross-functional teams (security, infrastructure, service desk) to deliver seamless network services.
- Ensure all documentation (network topology, SOPs, configuration templates) is kept current and accessible.
- Develop and enforce change management, incident response, and DR protocols in accordance with company policy.
Compliance, Monitoring Optimization
- Ensure compliance with corporate, industry, and regulatory network standards (e.g., ISO, PCI, SOX).
- Maintain proactive monitoring, alerting, and reporting systems to minimize downtime and performance issues.
- Continuously evaluate network performance and identify opportunities for improvement or automation.
Qualifications Experience
Must-Have
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 7+ years in network engineering, with 2+ years in a managerial or team lead role.
- Deep hands-on expertise in routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, SD-WAN, DNS, and Wi-Fi.
- Experience with cloud networking (AWS /Azure) and infrastructure automation.
- Familiarity with network monitoring tools.
- ITIL Foundation certification or experience in ITSM environments.
