Job Description

Responsible for different aspects of engineering activities to provide differentiated services and solutions. These may also include product evaluation, solution designing and testing and roll out plan for existing and new services, including design of tools needed for operation of these new services and systems. This is an operational role, responsible for delivering results that have direct impact on day-to-day engineering operations in the respective areas of MS-SQL Database administration, Patching, Life Cycle Management.

Responsibilities

Install, configure, upgrade, and patch SQL Server instances (On-premises and/or Cloud Azure SQL) : 2017, 2019, 2022
Perform MS-SQL patching, installation of SQL Server Service Packs.
Upgrade databases from across different MS-SQL DB versions.
Collect data, Analyse and prepare capacity planning, sizing, and database growth projections.
Schedule DB backups to ensure Restore/recovery without data loss across all environments
Configure, support replication across multiple DB setups.
Disaster recovery solution at the remote site for the production databases using Log Shipping.
Implement and maintain High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions such as AlwaysOn Availability Groups and Replication
Setup Database Maintenance Plans to reorganize indexes, re-indexing and update the index statistics on the production databases.
Use System monitor to find the bottlenecks in CPU, Disk I/O and memory devices and improved the database server performance.
Use SQL Server Profiler to monitor and record database activities of users and applications.
Use DBCC commands to troubleshoot issues related to database consistency.
Use Index tuning wizard to redesign and created the indexes for better performance.
Fine-tune Stored Procedures using Execution Plan in T-SQL for better performance.
Streamline the server/database level security by creating the Windows and SQL logins with the appropriate server/db roles and object level permissions.
Use Data Transformation Services (DTS)/SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) an Extract Transform Loading (ETL) tool of SQL Server to populate data from various data sources, creating packages for different data loading operations for application.
Implement trigger and stored procedures and enforced business rules via checks and constraints.
Review DB Scripts from the development team before releasing them into the Production.
Well versed with Active/Passive HA setup
Automation of L1/L2 MS-SQL DB tasks
Performance Tuning & Monitoring and Database Hardening
