About the Role: As Mambalam Iyers embarks on an ambitious journey of pan-India expansion, we are seeking dynamic and results-driven Area Sales Managers to lead our growth in various parts of the country. This is a pivotal role for individuals passionate about building and scaling sales operations for an authentic food brand. You will be responsible for driving primary and secondary sales, expanding market reach, and building strong distribution networks within your assigned territory. Key Responsibilities: Market Expansion & Sales Growth: Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies to achieve primary and secondary sales targets within the assigned area. Identify and onboard new distributors, retailers, and other sales channels to expand market penetration. Drive brand visibility and product availability across diverse general trade.. Team Leadership & Management: Recruit, train, motivate, and manage a high-performing sales team (e.g., Sales Officer, Merchandisers) within the assigned area. Set clear performance objectives, monitor progress, and provide regular coaching and feedback. Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with distributors, superstockists, and other channel partners. Address partner concerns and ensure smooth operations and timely payments. Market Intelligence & Reporting: Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and consumer preferences to identify opportunities and challenges. Generate regular sales reports, analyze data, and provide insights to the regional and national sales leadership. Ensure accurate and timely reporting of sales activities, forecasts, and market feedback. Promotional Activities: Plan and execute local promotional activities and campaigns in coordination with the marketing team. Ensure effective merchandising and product display at points of sale. Qualifications: Any degree in a related field. 5+ years of progressive experience in sales management, with a proven track record in the FMCG industry. Prior experience in managing primary and secondary sales, and distributor networks is essential. Strong understanding of the local market dynamics and retail landscape in the target regions. Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a larger Sales team. Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint) is a plus. Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned territory.
