Machine Shop (CNC) Production Supervisor

Roles and Responsibilities

Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced and technically proficient CNC Machine Shop Shift Incharge to manage and supervise CNC operations during the shift. The ideal candidate must have a strong background in CNC machine operation, programming (Fanuc, Siemens, or other controllers), and team supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and lead CNC operators and machinists during the assigned shift.

• Ensure production targets, quality standards, and delivery timelines are met.

• Perform CNC machine programming and editing (Fanuc/Siemens/Heidenhain or similar).

• Operate and set up CNC machines (Turning, Milling, VMC, HMC, etc.) when required.

• Troubleshoot programming and operational issues to reduce downtime.

• Review engineering drawings and ensure correct interpretation for production.

• Monitor tool wear and optimize tool life for efficient machining.

• Ensure shift-wise reporting, job allocation, and handover between shifts.

• Maintain 5S, safety, and quality systems within the shop floor.

• Coordinate with maintenance, quality, and production planning departments.

• Train operators and new recruits in CNC operation and basic programming.

Candidate Requirements:

• Qualification: Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical / Production Engineering or equivalent.

• Experience: Minimum 5 years to 15 years in CNC machining, with at least 2+ years in a supervisory role.

• Technical Skills:

• Hands-on experience in CNC machine operation and programming.

• Knowledge of G-code/M-code, tool offsets, and part setup.

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.

• Familiarity with CAM software (optional but preferred).

• Strong understanding of machining parameters, tolerances, and cycle time optimization.

• Good team management, problem-solving, and communication skills.

• Willing to work in rotational shifts if required.

Preferred Experience In:

• CNC Turning, VMC, HMC operations.

• Programming on Fanuc, Siemens, or Mitsubishi controllers.

• Handling small to mid-size teams in a machine shop environment.

• Exposure to precision components, automotive, or heavy engineering products.
