Linux Repository Maintainer

Nakshatra Systems is looking forward to hire a linux software repository maintainer who can service and manage the integrity of a software repository (update/upgrade/patch etc).

Looking for immediate joiners.

Nature of job is part-time contract based ( 6 hours max )

Job tenure is 6 months, renewable for another 6 months subject to performance.

Job Location : Remote - work from home.

Employment gap is okay as long as you have the necessary skillset. Fake exp is clearly not accepted.

Only the candidates with matching skill set will be shortlisted and will be contacted via phone for a technical interview.

Candidate will have to sign a legal agreement that will include NDA and NCA.

Note:

Since nature is work from home, a good broadband internet connection with IPv6 facility is mandatory for remote logins and work, failing to which contract can be terminated immediately.

Required technical skills :

=============================

Proficient in linux, bash scripting, C and python.

Compiling and creating software from source code.

knowledge of gcc and its cflags dflags prefix etc

Keeping track of software dependencies.

Patching - creating / providing / managing software patches.

Ability to understand and create or modify Makefiles as necessary.

Monitoring and staying current with CVE's and providing solutions.

Maintaining Changelog and other documentation.

Providing bug fixes,

Reviewing changes.

knowledge of cvs and git.

Connecting with upstream developer for solutions if needed to get issues resolved.

Good troubleshooting skills.

Knowledge of Slackware Linux a HUGE plus as candidates with knowledge of slackware will be prioritized over to those with knowledge of redhat/debian.

Non-technical skills required :

Should be fluent in english with good verbal and written skills

Ability to work in a team as well as independently.

Should be able to resolve assigned tasks in the specified time-frame/deadlines.
