Linux Automation Lead

Role Overview: You are seeking a highly skilled On-Call Engineer with expertise in Linux systems administration and proficiency in modern tools and technologies. Your role will involve managing critical incidents, troubleshooting complex issues, and ensuring infrastructure availability 24/7. Key Responsibilities: - Demonstrated Linux Systems Expertise: You should have a thorough understanding of Linux administration, root-level directory structures, and proficiency in Bash and Python scripting. - Strong Scripting Proficiency: Hands-on experience in Bash and Python for automation and operational tasks is essential. - Understanding of Networking Fundamentals: You should have knowledge of basic networking protocols and concepts. - Incident Management Skills: Availability for after-hours support and weekend shifts, with the ability to respond promptly to system incidents. - Documentation Capability: You need to be skilled in producing clear and structured documentation in English for knowledge transfer and operational transparency. - Effective Communication: Strong verbal communication skills are necessary to collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders. - Security Practices: Responsible handling of root access and adherence to security and access control best practices is key. Preferred Skills: - Knowledge of Databases: Familiarity with setup and maintenance of MySQL and PostgreSQL servers. - Infrastructure Automation: Experience with tools like Ansible and Puppet for configuration management. - Tooling & Collaboration: Exposure to Atlassian tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket. - Monitoring Systems: Experience in implementing and managing monitoring and logging tools. - CI/CD & Orchestration (Optional): Exposure to CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins) and container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes. Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience. - Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience in Linux system administration. - Proven track record of working in an on-call capacity with quick decision-making under pressure. - Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills with a keen eye for detail. - Ability to coordinate with cross-functional experts during critical incidents.
