Job Description

Job Area: Engineering Group, Engineering Group > Software Engineering General Summary: We are seeking a skilled and motivated Open-Source Testing Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in open-source testing, with a deep understanding of Ubuntu distribution, Debian package installation, and Ubuntu Core. This role requires proficiency in shell scripting, Python scripting, and a solid grasp of Ubuntu internals. Experience with Ubuntu Launchpad, preparing test strategies, and collaborating with global teams is essential. Key Responsibilities: Develop and execute test plans for open-source projects. Perform testing on Ubuntu distribution, including Debian package installation and Ubuntu Core. Write and maintain shell scripts and Python scripts for automation and testing purposes. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Ubuntu internals and server environments. Utilize Ubuntu Launchpad for bug tracking, code hosting, and project management. Prepare comprehensive test strategies and documentation. Collaborate with global teams to ensure seamless integration and testing processes. Contribute to continuous improvement of testing methodologies and tools. Qualifications: Strong experience in open-source testing and quality assurance. In-depth knowledge of Ubuntu distribution, Debian package installation, and Ubuntu Core. Proficiency in shell scripting and Python scripting. Solid understanding of Ubuntu internals and server environments. Experience with Ubuntu Launchpad and its various functionalities. Ability to prepare detailed test strategies and documentation. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working in global teams. 8+ years of relevant experience in the field. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools. Familiarity with other Linux distributions and open-source projects. Knowledge of version control systems like Git. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience. OR Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience. OR PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience. 2+ years of work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
