Description
Role & responsibilities We are seeking an experienced and versatile Wintel and Linux System Administrator with strong skills in virtualization technologies (such as VMware, Hyper-V, or KVM). This role is responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing Windows and Linux servers, ensuring high availability, performance, and security across physical and virtual environments. Key Responsibilities: Manage and administer Windows Server (2012/2016/2019/2022) and Linux distributions (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu). Install, configure, and maintain virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, or KVM. Monitor system performance and ensure availability and reliability. Patch and update systems in compliance with IT policies. Troubleshoot and resolve server, network, and virtualization-related issues. Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions. Manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy on Windows systems. Configure and manage Linux services (e.g., SSH, Apache/Nginx, cron, systemd, firewalld/iptables). Automate tasks using PowerShell, Bash, or Python scripting. Collaborate with the IT security team to implement best practices and remediate vulnerabilities. Document procedures, configurations, and change management activities. Participate in on-call rotation and provide after-hours support as needed. Required Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. 10+ years of experience in system administration (Wintel and Linux). Proven experience with virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V, KVM, etc.). Strong knowledge of system monitoring, patch management, and server hardening. Familiarity with ITIL processes and ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira). Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is a plus. Relevant certifications such as: Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Administrator Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
