Job Description

Role & responsibilities Oversee day-to-day operations of the school library, ensuring it is well-organized and accessible. Manage the library collection, including acquiring, cataloging, and maintaining books, journals, and digital resources. Promote and encourage reading programs, book clubs, and literacy-related activities. Assist students and staff in finding resources for academic assignments and personal reading. Teach library and research skills to students across grade levels. Develop and implement programs to support the curriculum, including book displays, events, and collaborative lessons with teachers. Maintain records of book circulation and ensure the proper care and repair of library materials. Stay up-to-date with the latest trends in educational technology and library resources. Work with the administration to plan the librarys budget and resource allocation. Create a welcoming and inclusive environment that fosters a love for reading and learning. Preferred candidate profile Educational Qualifications: Bachelor's or Masters degree in Library Science (B.Lib, M.Lib) or equivalent qualification. Additional qualifications in education or child psychology are a plus. Skills: Strong knowledge of library cataloging and management systems. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and parents. Passion for literature and promoting reading. Familiarity with modern educational technology and resources. Personal Attributes: Patient, approachable, and creative. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to multitask and handle various responsibilities. Team player with a collaborative spirit. Preferred: Knowledge of library management software such as KOHA, Libsys, or any other integrated library system (ILS). Experience in organizing extracurricular activities like book fairs, author visits, or reading competitions.
