The Opportunity
Digit88 is expanding the extended software product engineering team for its partner, a US-based SaaS platform company that predicts threats to workers and critical infrastructure to stop incidents before they happen. Our partner s software delivers a clear picture of risk up to a week in advance, so decision makers can take action in the right place, at the right time, before an incident occurs. Many of the largest energy and infrastructure companies in North America trust Our Partner to protect their workers, assets, and the communities they serve.The candidate would be joining an existing team of product engineers in the US, and India and help us establish an extended product engineering team at Digit88.
Our Hunt:
Digit88 is looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, hands-on senior Python backend engineer to join the back-end platform engineering team for our partner. Experience with a fast-paced India/US product start-up or a product engineering services company in a developer role, building a high-performance real-time distributed system is mandatory. Applicants having experience in developing and maintaining large scale healthcare systems/platforms are preferred. Applicants must have a passion for engineering with accuracy and efficiency, be highly motivated and organized, able to work as part of a team, and also possess the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Who You Are:
- BTech/BE CS or related discipline with 8+ years of backend experience designing,
building large-scale distribution systems
, and maintaining enterprise web applications - 8+ years of hands-on experience developing backend systems using
Python
, with a deep understanding of software design, performance, and maintainability - Proven experience with modern
Python frameworks
such as FastAPI, Django, or Flask
, used in production at scale - Strong expertise in designing and implementing
RESTful and GraphQL APIs
, with a focus on scalability, versioning, and clean data modeling - Solid working knowledge of
PostgreSQL
or other relational databases, including schema design, query optimization, and handling large datasets - Exposure to or experience working with
Agentic AI
systems or integrating LLM-based agents into backend workflows - Experience building and deploying applications on
AWS
, leveraging services like EC2, Lambda, RDS, S3, and CloudWatch
- Familiar with microservices architecture, asynchronous programming, and event-driven systems
- Comfortable with
Docker, Kubernetes,
and setting up CI/CD
pipelines for smooth and reliable deployments - Strong understanding of backend engineering best practices: testing, observability, security, and resilience at scale
- Experience working in cross-functional teams with product, frontend, and

What youll do:
- Design and
build scalable backend systems
using Python and modern frameworks like FastAPI, Django, or Flask
, optimized for performance and maintainability - Stay current with emerging backend technologies, and (ideally) explore how Agentic AI and LLM integrations can be leveraged in modern backend services
- Develop and maintain robust
RESTful and GraphQL APIs
that power internal systems, user-facing apps, and external integrations - Architect
distributed microservices
capable of handling large-scale workloads, with a focus on fault tolerance, security, and observability - Own data modeling and query design for
PostgreSQL
and other databases, ensuring data integrity and query performance - Work closely with DevOps to define and implement cloud-native infrastructure on
AWS
, including CI/CD, monitoring, and auto-scaling - Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, frontend developers, and other engineers to define features, scope solutions, and deliver high-impact projects
- Implement
asynchronous tasks
and event-driven workflows using tools like Celery
and message queues (e.g., Kafka, SQS) - Contribute to technical architecture decisions and influence best practices across engineering
- Write clean, well-documented, and testable code, with a strong emphasis on quality and continuous improvement
