Lead MEP Designer

Job Summary

The Lead MEP Designer will be responsible for leading the design and coordination of Mechanical, Electrical, Fire and Safety (MEP) systems for commercial and Hospitality projects. This role involves managing design teams, coordinating with architects, structural engineers, consultants and ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end MEP design development from concept to detailed design and construction drawings.
• Review and approve MEP layouts, calculations and technical specifications.
• Coordinate MEP designs with architectural, structural, and other engineering disciplines to avoid clashes.
• Ensure compliance with NBC, local authority regulations, fire norms, and relevant IS/ASHRAE/IEC/NBC standards.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior designers and draftsmen.
• Participate in design review meetings with clients, consultants, and project teams.
• Support value engineering initiatives and cost optimization without compromising quality.
• Assist project teams during construction by resolving design-related issues and issuing clarifications.
• Review shop drawings, material submittals, and as-built drawings.
• Ensure timely delivery of design outputs in line with project schedules.
  

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of HVAC, Electrical systems, Firefighting and ELV systems.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Excellent coordination and leadership skills.
• Strong understanding of construction practices and site execution.
• Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
  

Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering (or relevant discipline).

Experience

• Minimum 5 years of experience in MEP design, with at least 2–3 years in a lead or senior role.
• Experience in handling large-scale residential, commercial, or mixed-use projects.
