Lead Magento Backend Developer

to take ownership of backend architecture, performance, and scalability for our Magento-based digital commerce ecosystem. In this role, you will drive technical strategy, build and optimize backend features, and ensure our platforms deliver high availability, security, and world-class performance. You will also play a key part in mentoring engineers, improving development processes, and influencing long-term product and platform decisions.

What You'll Do

Architect, build, and enhance backend services and modules for Magento-powered applications.Develop custom extensions and integrations aligned with business and technical requirements.Lead performance engineering efforts including database tuning, API optimization, caching, and load handling.Integrate Magento with third-party platforms such as payment gateways, ERP, CRM, PIM, and marketing tools.Collaborate with product, frontend, DevOps, and QA teams to deliver robust and scalable features.Conduct peer code reviews, enforce coding standards, and elevate development quality across the team.Troubleshoot production issues, conduct root-cause analysis, and drive long-term fixes.Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to platform modernization initiatives.Stay current with Magento releases, security patches, and emerging eCommerce tech.Mentor junior developers through technical guidance, reviews, and knowledge sharing.

What You Bring

510 years of backend development experience, including

4+ years working with Magento 2

.Strong proficiency in

PHP, MySQL, OOP, MVC patterns, Composer, and REST/SOAP APIs

.Deep knowledge of Magento internals EAV model, indexing, caching, and module architecture.Hands-on experience with Adobe Commerce / Magento Cloud or multi-store setups.Strong backend engineering fundamentals: API design, database modeling, security, and testing.Familiarity with DevOps & infra tools such as Git, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Redis, Elasticsearch, RabbitMQ, and cloud platforms.Proven ability to diagnose performance bottlenecks and deliver optimized solutions.Experience working in Agile environments and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Bonus Skills

Adobe Magento certification (Developer, Professional, or Expert).Experience with headless commerce (GraphQL, React/Vue storefronts, microservices).Background in modern PHP frameworks (Laravel, Symfony).Exposure to DevOps workflows, automated deployments, and cloud scaling.
