Lead I - Derivative Services

Job Description: As a Team Leader Derivative Services at UST in Chennai, you will be responsible for overseeing the operational management of Exchange-Traded and OTC derivatives. Your role will involve managing transaction processing, margining, collateral management, and reconciliation while supporting global investment desks. This position requires coordination with internal teams such as Investment and Trading, as well as external stakeholders like brokers, custodians, and third-party administrators. In a fast-paced environment, you will lead your team to ensure operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and process improvements on a daily basis. Your key responsibilities will include providing post-execution operational support to Fund Managers and internal teams, monitoring and processing trade lifecycle events and derivative transactions, delivering timely and accurate reporting to stakeholders, investigating trade discrepancies, and ensuring fund administrators receive correct data. Additionally, you will oversee the day-to-day work of the team, prioritize and delegate workload effectively, collaborate with various teams to ensure smooth workflows, and support knowledge sharing and development within the team. Identifying and escalating operational risks and discrepancies, maintaining and updating procedures and control documents, driving adherence to regulatory, client, and internal policy requirements, leading change initiatives to reduce risk and increase efficiency, contributing to automation projects, and ensuring transparency by documenting issues in a timely manner are also part of your responsibilities. The mandatory skills for this role include a minimum of 6 years of experience in asset management, banking, or global custody operations, strong knowledge of OTC and exchange-traded derivatives, proven leadership skills in managing teams in a high-pressure environment, excellent problem-solving abilities, a strong risk awareness and control mindset, proficiency in Microsoft Excel and related tools, and familiarity with derivative platforms like Aladdin. Certifications such as the Investment Operations Certificate or CFA Institute Investment Foundations, strong presentation and communication skills, experience in driving process change and continuous improvement, and awareness of reputational risks are considered good-to-have skills for this position.
