Lead Engineer Embedded Software

Responsibilities :  

Firmware Development:  

• Design and develop low-level firmware for new embedded products.  

• Define architecture for embedded Linux systems.  

• Customise and maintain Linux distributions with Yocto Project.  

• Integrate and validate drivers and hardware components.  

• Optimise performance and resource usage.  

• Develop and integrate firmware for platforms based on System on Modules (SOMs).  

• Customise embedded Linux systems to run efficiently on SOM hardware platforms .  

Debugging & Troubleshooting:  

• Resolve complex hardware and software issues at firmware level.  

• Use tools such as JTAG and GDB for debugging.  

Project Leadership & Collaboration:  

• Work autonomously through the full software development lifecycle.  

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across hardware, software, and product domains in locations such as France, Spain, and India .  

• Lead technical decision-making during project initiation.  

  REQUIRED AND/OR DESIRABLE COMPETENCIES FOR THE JOB POSITION  

  TRAINING  

  Education:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science , Electronics, Telecommunications, or a related field.  

  Language Skills:  

  • Advanced level of English proficiency .   French and/or Spanish is desirable.  

  Technical Knowledge and management skills :  

  • Strong proficiency in embedded Linux system development.  

  • Advanced experience with Yocto Project (layers, recipes, BSPs).  

  • Expertise in C/C++ programming.  

  • Experience working with System on Modules (SOMs), including hardware integration and bootloader/kernel customisation .  

  • Familiarity with microcontroller and processor architectures (ARM, MIPS, etc.).  

  • Proficiency in Linux kernel and user space.  

  • Experience using debugging tools like JTAG and GDB.  

  • Knowledge of communication protocols: I2C, SPI, UART, USB, Ethernet.  

  • Knowledge of Cyber Security p rocess & t ools and standards ( IEEE 1686, IEC 62443-4-2 ) .   

  Industry / Product Experience:  

  • Experience working in the Power Energy industry, working on products such as RMU, RTU, Protection Relay, Gateways, IoT, IED Controllers   

   

  EXPERIENCE  

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in embedded firmware development.  

  • Proven track record of leading embedded development projects from scratch.
