Lead Data Engineer (Individual Contributor)

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Data Engineer to join our data engineering team. In this role, you will lead the design, development, and optimization of data pipelines and data warehouse solutions using Databricks and related technologies. The ideal candidate has a strong background in ETL, data warehousing, and cloud-based data platforms, with a preference for candidates experienced in Python, Java and C#.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL pipelines using Databricks
• Lead the architecture and implementation of data warehouse solutions for structured and unstructured data
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical solutions
• Optimize data workflows for performance and cost efficiency
• Ensure data quality, governance, and security across all pipelines and storage systems
• Mentor junior engineers and lead best practices in data engineering standards and processes
• Integrate data from diverse sources including APIs, relational databases, cloud platforms, and file systems

Required Skills:

• 7–8 years of experience in Data Engineering with hands-on expertise in ETL and data warehouse design
• Proficiency in Databricks for building and managing big data pipelines
• Strong experience with Python for scripting, automation, and data processing
• Solid understanding of data modeling, data integration, and data quality best practices
• Working knowledge of Java for backend and data application development
• C# is nice to have

Nice to Have:

• Experience with Azure Data Services (e.g., Azure Data Factory, ADLS, Synapse)
• Familiarity with C# is a plus, but not required
• Exposure to modern data orchestration tools and CI/CD practices

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline
