We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Cloud Engineer with expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and a strong background in application development. In this role, you will oversee the design, development, and optimization of cloud solutions while providing technical direction to teams on complex projects. Responsibilities Design and deliver scalable and dependable cloud-based solutions on GCP, following established architectural guidelines Build and deploy Java applications using GCP-native services, including GKE, Cloud Run, Firestore, Cloud SQL, and Pub/Sub Create detailed application architecture blueprints that align with organizational goals Identify and implement GCP services to address functional and performance requirements Leverage advanced knowledge of GCP PaaS, serverless offerings, and database solutions Provide guidance and technical mentorship to development and infrastructure teams throughout project lifecycles Ensure cloud implementations meet security and compliance standards Optimize cloud solutions for performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness Stay informed about new GCP tools and technologies, integrating relevant updates into solutions Work with GCP GenAI tools, including Vertex AI and Gemini models Utilize front-end technologies like Angular or React when necessary Requirements Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in cloud engineering or a related role At least 1 year of experience in managing and leading technical teams Proven experience in designing, deploying, and maintaining GCP-based applications In-depth expertise with GCP services, including GKE, Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, Firestore, Firebase, Apigee, and App Engine Familiarity with GCP AI tools such as Vertex AI and Gemini Code Assist Knowledge of additional GCP services, including Memorystore, Service Mesh, and Cloud Monitoring Strong understanding of cloud security principles and experience implementing security controls on GCP Comprehensive knowledge of cloud architecture standards and best practices Experience with DevOps tools and automation platforms like Terraform Proficient in English, both written and spoken, at a B2 level or higher Nice to have Hands-on experience with processing and analyzing large-scale data in cloud environments Understanding of multi-cloud strategies and hybrid cloud implementation approaches Proven ability to mentor and train teams in cloud technologies and workflows We offer International projects with top brands Work with global teams of highly skilled, diverse peers Healthcare benefits Employee financial programs Paid time off and sick leave Upskilling, reskilling and certification courses Unlimited access to the LinkedIn Learning library and 22,000+ courses Global career opportunities Volunteer and community involvement opportunities Opportunity to join and participate in life of EPAM's Employee Resource Groups EPAM Employee Groups Award-winning culture recognized by Glassdoor, Newsweek and LinkedIn Show more Show less
