Lead Cloud Engineer

In this role, you will lead the design, execution, and optimization of cloud-based solutions while guiding technical teams through complex projects. Responsibilities Create and implement reliable and scalable cloud solutions on GCP, adhering to architectural standards Develop and deploy Java applications leveraging GCP-native services such as GKE, Cloud Run, Firestore, Cloud SQL, and Pub/Sub Craft detailed application architecture designs aligned with organizational objectives Select and configure GCP services to address both functional and non-functional requirements Show expertise in GCP PaaS, serverless solutions, and database services Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development and infrastructure teams throughout the lifecycle of projects Ensure all cloud implementations comply with security and regulatory standards Continuously refine cloud solutions to boost performance, scalability, and cost efficiency Stay updated on emerging GCP technologies and incorporate relevant advancements into solutions Work with GCP GenAI tools, including Vertex AI and Gemini models Incorporate front-end technologies such as Angular or React when appropriate Requirements Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field At least 5 years of hands-on experience in cloud engineering or a similar role Minimum of 1 year of experience managing and leading technical teams Proven track record of designing, deploying, and maintaining applications on GCP Strong proficiency with GCP services, including GKE, Cloud Run, Cloud SQL, Firestore, Firebase, Apigee, and App Engine Familiarity with GCP AI tools such as Vertex AI and Gemini Code Assist Experience with additional GCP services like Memorystore, Service Mesh, and Cloud Monitoring Solid understanding of cloud security practices and experience implementing security measures in GCP environments Thorough knowledge of cloud architecture principles and industry best practices Hands-on experience with DevOps tools and automation frameworks such as Terraform Fluent in English, both written and spoken, at a B2 level or higher Nice to have Experience working with large-scale data processing and analytics on cloud platforms Knowledge of multi-cloud strategies and hybrid cloud deployment models Experience mentoring and training teams on cloud technologies and best practices We offer International projects with top brands Work with global teams of highly skilled, diverse peers Healthcare benefits Employee financial programs Paid time off and sick leave Upskilling, reskilling and certification courses Unlimited access to the LinkedIn Learning library and 22,000+ courses Global career opportunities Volunteer and community involvement opportunities Opportunity to join and participate in life of EPAM's Employee Resource Groups EPAM Employee Groups Award-winning culture recognized by Glassdoor, Newsweek and LinkedIn Show more Show less
