Job Description

Equilibrium, a Climes spin-off and India's leading climate-tech company, is seeking a dedicated Lead - Carbon Asset Development to oversee and manage the carbon cycle of various projects. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the successful execution of carbon projects. Your responsibilities will include conducting due diligence, developing emission reduction calculations, handling stakeholder consultations, and managing project verification audits. Expertise in international standards, carbon markets, project certification processes, and relationship building with stakeholders are essential for this position. The ideal candidate should have a background in environmental science or related fields, a minimum of 5 years of project development experience, and exceptional communication skills to lead and mentor a team. Key Responsibilities: - Oversee and manage the carbon cycle of projects under various GHG mitigation programs - Conduct comprehensive project due diligence and assess eligibility based on required standards - Ensure project documentation aligns with international standards and guidelines - Develop emission reduction calculations according to applicable methodologies - Handle stakeholder consultations, project validation, and audits under different mechanisms - Identify, collect, and submit data and documents for successful validation and verification audits - Create financial models for projects in compliance with GHG standards - Lead project emission reduction verification audits to secure the issuance of Emission Reductions (ERs) - Prepare documentation following national authority guidelines for Host Country Approval (HCA) - Mentor the carbon science and project management team to ensure successful credit delivery - Build relationships with Designated Operational Entities (DoEs) for project prioritization Qualification Required: - Bachelor's degree or higher in environmental science, sustainability, engineering, or related field - Minimum of 5 years of experience in overseeing projects in CDM, Verra - VCS, and Gold Standards - Strong expertise in international standards, guidelines, and methodologies for carbon offset projects - Deep understanding of voluntary and Article 6 carbon markets, carbon accounting, and project certification processes - Ability to evaluate projects based on geographical factors, community needs, and environmental considerations - Proven experience in building relationships with partners, stakeholders, and authorities - Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and travel to project sites as needed,
