Lab Technician Mineral Processing & Testing

About the Role

ICP-OES

Key Responsibilities

1. Sample Preparation

Perform crushing, grinding, pulverizing, sieving, and homogenization of mineral samples.
Carry out wet chemistry preparation including digestion, dilution, and reagent handling.
Follow defined SOPs and maintain precision in sample weights and preparation steps.

2. ICP-OES Testing

Operate ICP-OES under supervision of Lab Supervisor.
Prepare calibration standards, blanks, and QC samples.
Conduct routine analysis and record results accurately.

3. Lab Work & Data Recording

Maintain testing logs, worksheets, and digital records.
Ensure proper labelling and traceability of all samples.
Support report generation by compiling analytical data.

4. Equipment Handling & Maintenance

Support routine maintenance and cleaning of lab equipment (ICP-OES, crushers, ovens, weighing balances).
Identify instrument issues and escalate to Supervisor.

5. Safety & Compliance

Follow all lab safety protocols, PPE usage, chemical-handling guidelines, and waste disposal systems.
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in work area.

Qualifications

Diploma / B.Sc in Chemistry, Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, or related sciences.
Minimum
6 years experience
in laboratory testing or mineral analysis.
Experience operating or supporting
ICP-OES
analysis is required.
Experience in mineral/ore testing preferred.
