Laboratory Assistant

As a Laboratory Assistant at SRMPS, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Science Department by conducting practical sessions and maintaining laboratory equipment for Physics, Chemistry, and Biology labs. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the labs are safe, clean, well-stocked, and operational for student use. You will assist teachers in demonstrating scientific concepts through experiments and ensure compliance with safety standards. Key Responsibilities: - Prepare laboratories for practical sessions - Ensure safety and compliance with regulations - Manage inventory of laboratory materials - Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment - Keep detailed records and documentation - Provide support to students and staff during lab sessions - Organize the laboratory space effectively - Adhere to school policies and procedures Qualifications and Experience: - Education: Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) or Laboratory Technology from a recognized institution - Experience: Minimum 1-2 years of relevant experience in a school or educational laboratory (preferred but not mandatory for freshers with strong technical skills) Skills and Attributes: - Proficiency in laboratory equipment and experimental procedures - Basic troubleshooting and maintenance skills for lab instruments - Attention to detail, cleanliness, and organization - Strong communication and interpersonal skills - Ability to handle pressure and manage multiple responsibilities - Knowledge of safety protocols and hazard handling in a laboratory setting Work Environment: You will primarily work in school science laboratories with exposure to chemicals, biological specimens, and electrical equipment. Some lifting of lab equipment and supplies may be required.
