Description
Job Summary: We are looking for a Lab Assistant for our Design and Technology (D&T) Lab that supports teachers and students in the preparation, organization, and smooth running of practical sessions and workshops. The assistant ensures all tools, equipment, and materials are maintained, safe, and ready for use, while also helping to enforce health and safety standards. Key Responsibilities: Prepare materials, tools, and equipment for classroom projects and lessons. Support teachers during practical sessions with setup, supervision, and student guidance. Assist with the operation of various lab equipment used in design and technology, including 3D printers, CNC machines, and other specialized tools. Maintain inventory of lab tools, materials, and consumables; manage reordering when needed. Conduct routine maintenance and minor repairs of tools and equipment. Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations within the lab. Assist students with safe tool usage and project execution under teacher supervision. Handle proper storage and disposal of materials (e.g., wood, metal, adhesives, paints). Maintain records of lab activities, equipment usage, and incident reports if applicable. Participate in departmental meetings and training sessions as required. Qualifications: Prior experience in a workshop, technical lab, or school environment is an advantage. Basic knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and safety procedures. Familiarity with CAD software, 3D printing, and design equipment is a plus.
