L2 - OS Admin

Role Overview

The OS Administrator is responsible for installing, configuring, securing, and maintaining operating systems across servers and enterprise environments. The role ensures system stability, security, and performance by managing day-to-day operations, troubleshooting incidents, and supporting infrastructure upgrades.

Key Responsibilities

System Administration

• Install, configure, and maintain

  Windows / Linux / Unix servers

• Manage user accounts, permissions, and system access in compliance with policies.
• Apply OS patches, upgrades, and security updates on a regular schedule.

Monitoring & Performance

• Monitor system performance, availability, and resource utilization.
• Conduct regular health checks and ensure compliance with SLAs.
• Troubleshoot OS-related issues and provide root cause analysis.

Security & Compliance

• Implement and maintain system security (hardening, access control, vulnerability patching).
• Support audits and compliance requirements
• Maintain system backup, recovery, and disaster recovery readiness.

Operations & Support

• Provide L2/L3 support for OS-related incidents.
• Automate routine tasks using scripts (Shell, PowerShell, Python).
• Maintain documentation of system configurations, SOPs, and changes.

Collaboration

• Work closely with network, storage, and application teams for issue resolution.
• Support infrastructure projects, migrations, and capacity planning.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, IT, Electronics, or related field.
• 35 years of experience in

  Linux / Windows / Unix administration

• Strong knowledge of system performance tuning, patch management, and log analysis.
• Familiarity with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, KVM).
• Understanding of security hardening, firewalls, and endpoint protection.
• Proficiency in scripting (Bash, PowerShell, Python preferred).

Preferred

• Certifications such as RHCSA / RHCE, MCSA / MCSE, CompTIA Linux+, VMware VCP.
