The Junior Laboratory Superintendent (Technical) at Ashoka University is a crucial role within the Department of Physics, reporting to the Head of the Department. The Department of Physics at Ashoka University is renowned for offering undergraduate and PhD-level courses in Physics and Astronomy, with a strong emphasis on experiential learning through nine full-semester laboratory courses. Additionally, the department houses three major research laboratories where faculty, PhD scholars, and undergraduate thesis students conduct experimental research in diverse areas such as Magnetism, Soft matter physics, Biophysics, Quantum physics, Astrophysics, and Cosmology. To be considered for the position of Junior Laboratory Superintendent (Technical), candidates should possess a Fresh B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering, or a Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering coupled with 5 years of relevant working experience. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent hands-on skills and technical proficiency in handling machine tools and scientific measurement instruments, as well as basic electronics/electrical work. A fair working knowledge of IT systems, proficiency in English (both written and spoken), and strong teamwork skills are essential for this role. The primary responsibility of the Junior Laboratory Superintendent is to ensure the smooth functioning of all physics labs at Ashoka University. This involves designing and fabricating components for the labs, building experimental setups, developing lab experiments, managing inventory, and maintaining budget allocations. The role also includes providing laboratory-related assistance to faculty, implementing lab safety protocols, supporting research projects, and representing the physics program in outreach events. The total working hours for this position are around 40 hours per week, and the Laboratory Superintendent is expected to adjust their schedule as per the departmental requirements.
