Job Description

An Ironer, also known as a presser, smooths out wrinkles and shapes garments and other fabrics using pressing equipment or hand irons. They work in various settings like commercial laundries, dry cleaners, and sometimes private residences. Their tasks include operating pressing machines, using hand irons, inspecting finished items, and preparing them for delivery or storage. Key Responsibilities of an Ironer:

  • Operating Pressing Equipment:Using steam presses, hydraulic presses, or hand irons to remove wrinkles and shape garments.
  • Fabric Care:Understanding different fabric types and adjusting ironing techniques accordingly, including using steam, adjusting temperature, and applying pressure.
  • Quality Control:Inspecting finished items for any defects, such as wrinkles, stains, or damage, and reporting issues to supervisors.
  • Finishing Touches:Applying final touches with hand irons to ensure garments meet quality standards, including shaping and pressing specific areas like collars or cuffs.
  • Sorting and Organization:Sorting garments by fabric type, color, and size before pressing, and organizing them after ironing.
  • Equipment Maintenance:Cleaning and maintaining pressing equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Following Instructions:Adhering to care label instructions and company guidelines for pressing various items.
  • Collaboration and Communication:Working with other team members to meet production targets and communicating any issues to supervisors.
  • Safety Procedures:Following safety protocols while operating equipment and handling fabrics.
  • Packaging and Preparation:Folding, packaging, and tagging finished items for delivery or storage.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience: Prior experience in ironing or pressing is often required.
  • Physical Stamina: The ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks is essential.
  • Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail is crucial for identifying defects and ensuring quality.
  • Knowledge of Fabrics: Understanding different fabric types and their ironing requirements.
  • Communication Skills: Good communication skills for interacting with team members and supervisors.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity: To handle garments and operate equipment efficiently.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹12,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
