Cyber Security – Intern

Overview:

We are looking for an Intern who will be responsible for helping manage the Cyber

engineering and supporting the tools used by our cyber team. The individual in this role is

expected to have meticulous attention to detail, outstanding problem-solving skills, work

comfortably under pressure, and deliver excellent quality customer service.

As a Cyber Security Intern, you will work closely with our security professionals to support

various aspects of our enterprise security program. This includes assisting in security

monitoring, threat analysis, compliance efforts, and the implementation of security measures

across the organization.

The person can multitask, work independently, and work collaboratively with teams,

some of which may be geographically distributed.

Job Responsibilities:

• Monitor security information and event management (SIEM) tools and other security

platforms for signs of potential threats or suspicious activities.

• Help in performing vulnerability scans and assessments of IT infrastructure,

identifying security weaknesses, and recommending mitigation strategies.

• Assist in the investigation and analysis of security incidents, including data breaches,

malware infections, and other cyber threats.

• Aid in the development and revision of cybersecurity policies, standards, and

procedures to enhance the organization’s security posture.

• Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity trends, threats, and best practices, and

provide insights to the team.

• Document findings from assessments, incident investigations, and research. Assist in

maintaining logs and records of cybersecurity events.

• Support the development and delivery of cybersecurity awareness training for

employees.

• Participate in internal and external security audits and help prepare reports based on

the findings.

• Should possess knowledge of Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration Testing

process and tools.

• Assist in conducting static and dynamic application security testing (SAST/DAST) for

web and mobile applications.

• Support code reviews to identify common vulnerabilities (e.g., SQL injection, XSS,

CSRF, insecure authentication).

• Research emerging security threats, attack techniques, and defensive strategies.

• Draft reports and presentations on findings, incidents, and security recommendations.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (IT, DevOps, and Compliance) on security

initiatives.

• Assist in maintaining security documentation, checklists, and compliance records.

• Participate in training sessions on application security, threat intelligence, and defense

operations.

• Shadow senior security engineers during penetration tests, red/blue team exercises, or

incident investigations.

• Gain hands-on exposure to industry-standard tools (e.g., Burp Suite, OWASP ZAP,

Wireshark, Nessus, Metasploit).

Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity,

Information Technology, or related field.

• Foundational knowledge of networking, operating systems (Windows/Linux), and web

technologies (HTTP, APIs, databases, JavaScript, etc.).

• Familiarity with common security frameworks and vulnerabilities (e.g., OWASP Top 10,

MITRE ATT&CK).

• Exposure to security tools and concepts such as SIEM (Splunk/QRadar), vulnerability

scanners (Nessus), packet analysis (Wireshark), and application testing tools (Burp

Suite, OWASP ZAP).

• Understanding of secure coding practices and software development lifecycle (SDLC);

basic programming or scripting skills (e.g., Python, Java, C/C++, PowerShell) preferred.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and research skills with ability to learn and apply

new concepts quickly.

• Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with developers, IT

teams, and security staff.

• Passion for application security, threat detection, and cyber defense, with enthusiasm

for hands-on learning (CTFs, labs, or personal projects a plus).

• Relevant certifications or training (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CEH, eJPT, Cisco

Cyber Ops, OWASP courses) considered an advantage.

Duration: 6-12 Months
