As an Insurance Eligibility and Benefit Verification Specialist, your role involves verifying patient insurance eligibility and benefits before medical services are rendered. Your responsibilities include: - Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits using online portals or direct communication with insurance carriers. - Work with healthcare providers to obtain prior authorizations for medical procedures and treatments. - Address discrepancies in insurance information promptly and resolve coverage issues. - Communicate effectively with patients regarding their insurance coverage and financial responsibilities. Preferred skills for this role include: - Strong understanding of insurance terminology, medical coding (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS), and various insurance plans. - Proficiency with medical billing software, Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems, and online insurance portals. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills for professional interactions with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers. - Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. - Knowledge of HIPAA and other healthcare privacy and compliance standards. - Experience working with Medicare, Medicaid, PPO, HMO, and commercial insurance plans.
