Instrumentation Technician (Instrumentation Officer)

Role & responsibilities

The role holder is expected to:

Provide technical skills to effect repairs and maintain site assets.

Provide plant Instrument problem solving skills within area of expertise to

optimise manufacturing equipment availability and keep production downtime

to a minimum. Some issues may require further advice and investigation. The

role will predominately involve routine and standard tasks.

Communicate effectively verbally and in writing with internal customers to

ensure that work is implemented in a safe and timely manner. The role requires

occasional and limited influence.

Use planning skills in order to carry out daily maintenance and small project

tasks in a safe, healthy and environmentally acceptable manner.

Identify materials and equipment required to rectify faults and breakdowns.

To identify risk potential and problems and carry out job risk assessments, for

example in high hazard plant, to the appropriate standard. Ensure compliance

with the relative legislative and site codes and standards within the scope of the

role and be accountable for their own Health and Safety and those around them

who could be affected by their actions.

Maintain a high level of housekeeping in the workshops and workplace.

• Carrying out the maintenance work agreed in the programme of work.
• Adhere to defined procedures.
• Reporting relevant information back into the maintenance management

information system.

• Carrying out the work in a safe manner.
• Leaving the working area in a safe and tidy manner with appropriate

disposal of any waste generated in the maintenance work.

• Relating information concerning the change of an asset for another

(where a spare of the same specification is used. Any change in specification

should be with prior permission from line engineer.
