Job Description

The Instructional Designer works alongside an experienced instructional designer to analyze training needs, update existing programs, and develop online courses using template-based e-learning software. This role involves reviewing needs assessments to determine training goals, collaborating with subject matter experts, and creating program evaluations and tests aligned with course objectives to ensure effective learning outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in conducting detailed job-task analysis and needs assessments to identify learning objectives and determine appropriate training and performance enhancement solutions.
  • Collaborate with managers and review needs assessment information to ensure training content focuses on increasing employee capability.
  • Apply instructional design and adult learning theories to design course content, targeting individual modules or standalone products.
  • Select appropriate training methodologies (e.g., group lectures, role play, simulations, self-study, on-the-job training, computer-based training) based on audience needs and learning styles.
  • Research, select, and modify existing training curriculum, materials, and job aids to meet evolving learning needs.
  • Review program evaluations, test results, and feedback to recommend improvements to training programs.
  • Develop program evaluations and tools to measure training effectiveness and learning outcomes.
  • Identify and coordinate with external vendors as needed, managing vendor relationships to ensure quality and timely delivery of training resources.

Preparation, Training & Experience:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Formal education or courses in learning design and adult learning theory, with proven ability to apply these concepts in creating effective training solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid project management capabilities.
  • Proficient in common e-learning software applications, with hands-on experience creating new modules.
