Job Summary:

The Infection Control Nurse is responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring infection control programs to ensure a safe and hygienic environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This role involves surveillance, education, and compliance with infection prevention protocols to minimize the risk of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs).

Key Responsibilities:

Infection Control Program Management:

• Develop and implement infection control policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Monitor and analyze infection trends and provide actionable insights.
• Ensure compliance with national and international infection control standards.

Surveillance and Monitoring:

• Conduct routine surveillance of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs).
• Investigate outbreaks and implement corrective actions to control and prevent further spread.
• Maintain detailed records of infection data and generate regular reports.

Education and Training:

• Train healthcare staff on infection control practices, including hand hygiene, sterilization, and PPE usage.
• Conduct workshops and awareness programs on infection prevention.
• Educate patients and visitors about infection risks and preventive measures.

Audits and Compliance:

• Perform regular audits of hospital or facility practices to ensure adherence to infection control protocols.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of sterilization, disinfection, and waste management processes.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements.

Collaboration and Communication:

• Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff to promote a culture of infection prevention.
• Liaise with public health authorities during outbreaks or emergencies.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to provide infection control insights.

Emergency Response:

• Respond promptly to infection-related emergencies and implement containment measures.
• Develop contingency plans for infection control during epidemics or pandemics.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Educational Requirements:

  Diploma/Bachelors Degree in Nursing (B.Sc Nursing or GNM).

• Certification:

  Certification in Infection Control (e.g., CIC) is preferred.

• Experience:

  Experience / Fersher

• Skills:

• Strong knowledge of microbiology, epidemiology, and infectious diseases.
• Proficiency in infection control surveillance and data analysis.
• Excellent communication, teaching, and leadership skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.
