Role Overview
The Immigration Specialist will be responsible for managing end-to-end immigration processes for employees relocating across global offices, specifically focusing on L1A (Managerial/Executive Transfer) and ICT visas. The role requires in-depth knowledge of international mobility regulations, documentation, eligibility assessments, and coordination with legal counsel, government bodies, and internal stakeholders. The specialist will ensure 100% compliance while delivering a seamless immigration experience for employees and leadership.
Key Responsibilities
1. Visa Strategy & Advisory
- Act as the subject matter expert (SME) for L1A and ICT visa categories.
- Assess employee eligibility, profile fitment, and required documentation for visa initiation.
- Advise leadership, HRBPs, and hiring managers on immigration timelines, risks, and mobility options.
- Provide recommendations on alternate visa routes when needed.
2. End-to-End Case Management
- Manage end-to-end immigration lifecycle for L1A and ICT casesinitiation, documentation, filings, consular appointments, and post-approval support.
- Prepare and validate all required application forms, business justifications, organizational charts, and support letters.
- Coordinate with global mobility teams, relocation vendors, external attorneys, and government authorities.
- Track each case milestone using internal immigration systems/tools.
3. Documentation & Compliance
- Ensure all filings comply with USCIS, DOL, and country-specific ICT regulations.
- Maintain detailed documentation, case notes, and audit-ready immigration files.
- Monitor changes in immigration law and compliance rules and communicate updates internally.
- Conduct periodic audits for visa status, expiration, renewals, and compliance adherence.
4. Employee & Stakeholder Communication
- Provide proactive and clear communication to employees regarding immigration steps, timelines, document requirements, and interview preparation.
- Manage expectations of business leaders and employees regarding processing times, government delays, and documentation challenges.
- Handle escalations, urgent visa requests, and time-sensitive mobility moves.
5. Vendor & Legal Partner Coordination
- Work closely with immigration law firms, attorneys, and visa processing vendors.
- Review petitions drafted by attorneys for accuracy and alignment with company policies.
- Evaluate vendor performance and ensure service-level quality is met.
Required Skills & Competencies
Technical/Immigration Skills
- Strong knowledge of L1A Manager/Executive visa requirements (organizational hierarchy, managerial duties, qualifying corporate relationship criteria).
- Expertise in ICT visa frameworks (UK, EU, Canada, Singapore, etc., based on company footprint).
- Experience preparing visa petitions, support letters, and business justification reports.
- Understanding of global mobility policies, relocation, work permits, and compliance frameworks.
