Job Description

The ICU Incharge – Staff Nurse is responsible for supervising and coordinating the nursing care provided in the Intensive Care Unit. They ensure high standards of patient care, compliance with protocols, staff management, and smooth functioning of the ICU.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Care & Clinical Responsibilities:
  • Oversee critical care nursing practices in the ICU.
  • Monitor and evaluate patients' conditions and coordinate with doctors for appropriate interventions.
  • Ensure strict adherence to infection control protocols and ICU standards.
  • Manage emergencies efficiently and lead the nursing team during critical situations.
  • Supervisory & Administrative Duties:
  • Allocate duties and shifts to ICU nursing staff.
  • Maintain proper staffing levels and request reinforcements when required.
  • Supervise documentation and ensure accurate record-keeping.
  • Coordinate with consultants, doctors, and other departments for smooth patient care.
  • Training & Staff Development:
  • Train and mentor ICU staff nurses on protocols, procedures, and emergency responses.
  • Conduct skill assessments and encourage continuous nursing education.
  • Inventory & Equipment Management:
  • Ensure availability and proper functioning of ICU equipment and emergency drugs.
  • Monitor stock of consumables, linen, and supplies; coordinate with stores for replenishment.
  • Compliance & Quality Control:
  • Enforce hospital policies, procedures, and quality standards.
  • Conduct regular audits and implement corrective actions for deficiencies.
  • Reporting & Communication:
  • Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports as required.
  • Escalate any unusual occurrences or patient safety issues to Nursing Superintendent immediately.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • GNM/B.Sc Nursing (Post Basic or Regular)
  • Registered with State Nursing Council
  • Minimum 3–5 years of ICU experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory/incharge role
  • Strong leadership, clinical decision-making, and communication skills
  • BLS/ACLS certified (preferred)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
